Ithemba Special Day Care Centre

The aim of the Ithemba Special Day Care Centre is so provide a broad special educational care and to facilitate a practical, life concerning apprenticeship. The centre is located in a township of Port Elizabeth and provides plenty of room for 20 till 40 children.

Field of work: work with children and teenagers with disability, education

Qualification: educational qualification/basic studies in the area of (special) pedagogy or therapeutic qualification/basic studies in similar areas, curiosity, taking delight in dealing with children and teenagers, empathy and adaptability, independent working, command of English advantageous

Function of volunteers: support in practical exercises, recreational activities etc., participation in team meetings, continuation and supplementation of the records of the children and teenagers, screening and documentation of current needs and problems of the children and teenagers, according to the qualification implementation of individual education schemes

Number of volunteers: 2

Accommodation: host family or private residence

Departure: between July and October
